Empire State Teacher Residency Program
provides opportunities for aspiring teachers to jumpstart their careers at New York City º£½ÇÂÒÂ× by completing residencies in NYCPS priority districts. In partnership with nine local institutes of higher education, the program supports teacher residents earning clinical experience in a NYC Public school and provides annual stipends.Â
Empire State Teacher residents:
- Receive an annual stipend of $30,000
- Complete 1,000 hours of clinical experience in a NYC Public SchoolÂ
- Make a 2-year commitment to teach in NYCPS upon completion of their residency
Eligible candidates must have a bachelor's degree and must not have previously attended a teacher preparation program.
