Empire State Teacher Residency Program

provides opportunities for aspiring teachers to jumpstart their careers at New York City º£½ÇÂÒÂ× by completing residencies in NYCPS priority districts. In partnership with nine local institutes of higher education, the program supports teacher residents earning clinical experience in a NYC Public school and provides annual stipends. 

Empire State Teacher residents:

  • Receive an annual stipend of $30,000
  • Complete 1,000 hours of clinical experience in a NYC Public School 
  • Make a 2-year commitment to teach in NYCPS upon completion of their residency

Eligible candidates must have a bachelor's degree and must not have previously attended a teacher preparation program.
